It has been a busy several months as I have gone through the process of interviewing, having a site visit, and then being offered the position of superintendent. It was a tough decision to leave Rapid River Public Schools, but making that superintendents position part-time, given the economic challenges, was the right thing to do. As an eternal optimist, I try to make the best of whatever life hands me. When I made the decision to move on, I knew it would be with mixed feelings. Rapid River Public Schools has been such a big part of my life for so long that it was hard to imagine not having that connection. I was fortunate to have been able to work with amazing people; to have people who made me laugh and allowed me to think I was funny (even though my husband didnt); and I was always proud to be a Rocket.
Now I am excited and grateful to be a Mighty Yellowjacket. I will take what I have learned from all of my experiences as a teacher (special education, sixth grade, seventh grade, kindergarten, university coordinator for student teachers), assistant high school principal and superintendent so I can be the best superintendent for the students of Concord that I can be. Concord kids, like Rapid River kids, deserve my everyones best. I look forward to establishing some great friendships at Concord and I know that any time I am lucky enough to work with kids, its a good day.
Thank you so much for making me feel welcome and for taking the time to tell me why Concord Community Schools is a great place for kids. I hope you the Concord Family - have had a relaxing summer and have taken time to enjoy yourself and your families. Please continue to feel free to stop in or call so we can get to know each other.
I look forward to seeing you at school for fall sports, open house, and especially at the September 10 tailgate party to kick off Concord Community Schools 175th anniversary what an accomplishment!
Best wishes on a great school year.
Go Mighty Yellowjackets!
