Mrs. Miller's Counseling Corner

The Shop Rat Education Program is an afterschool class for local 6th-10th grade students to learn how to use tools and machinery to inspire them to further their education in the skilled trade insdustry, and/or to become more "hands-on" dependant citizens.

Among the projects that students will be working on are a human powered vehicle, a homemade pen, remote controlled soccer robot, a solar powered to car, or a CO2 vehicle.  All these can be taken home once they are completed.

The classes are held at Peak Manufacturing, 11855 Bunkerhill Rd, Pleasant Lake, on Monday,  and Classic Turning, 2500 West Argyle St, Jackson, on Tuesday or Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The fee is $75 for 15 weeks of classes.  There will be refreshments at each class.  There will be a $25 rebate for students who complete the course with one absence or less.

For more information go to the Shop Rat website, www.shoprat.org or email them at shoprat@gmail.com.  You may also phone Amanda Proctor at 517-769-2100.
